Q. How does the Optimist Club of Byron 50/50 raffle draw work?

The 50/50 draw administered by the Optimist Club of Byron is a raffle licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) where individuals purchase ticket(s) for the opportunity to win 50% of the total money raised through the sale of 50/50 tickets.

Q. Where does the other 50% of the proceeds raised go?

Q. Who is eligible to buy 50/50 draw tickets?

If you meet the following criteria, you are eligible to purchase 50/50 draw tickets:

·       Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of purchase.

·       Must be located in the Province of Ontario at the time of purchase.


Q. Who is not eligible to participate or receive any winnings in the 50/50 draw?

·       Persons under the age of 18 years.

·       Members of the Optimist Club of Byron Board of Directors, their partners/spouses and persons living in the domiciles of the Board of Directors.

·       All persons employed by the Optimist Club of Byron, including those on paid or unpaid leave.

·       An employee of the Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

·       An employee of the supplier of the 50/50 system who is involved with the development and/or support of the 50/50 system.

·       Such other persons designated from time to time as related parties by the Optimist Club of Byron.

·       Individuals who appear to be intoxicated.


Note: Prior to the purchase of a ticket(s) online, you will be required to verify your eligibility and that your information is complete and accurate.

Q. Can I play more than once in a game?

Yes. You can purchase tickets more than once per raffle.

Q. What are the odds of winning?

The odds of winning the prize are based on the number of tickets sold.

Q. How is the winning number drawn?

A unique winning number is randomly generated and issued by the electronic BUMP 50/50 system from the numbers purchased for that particular draw. The mechanism for selecting the winning number is a computer-based random number generator that has been certified by the AGCO.

Q. When is the winning number drawn and posted?

50/50 ticket sales close at the end of each draw as noted on the Optimist Club of Byron lottery website. After the winning 50/50 number has been drawn, the winning ticket and prize amount will be posted on the Optimist Club of Byron lottery website.

Q. How do I claim my prize? When can I expect to receive my winnings?

If you have the winning 50/50 number, please contact the Optimist Club of Byron email at  You must also complete and submit the required winner claimant documents within six (6) months of the draw date.   


The winner will be paid by cheque within 30 days of completion of the claim process.  You must present your text message/email of your online winning ticket along with two (2) forms of identification proving your age to be over 18, including a government-issued photo ID and the completed prize claim form. The winning ticket cannot be tampered with. The Optimist Club of Byron reserves the right to deny winnings if the ticket has been reproduced or changed from its original state.

Note: Online ticket sales must be claimed by the individual named in the original purchase transaction. The Optimist Club of Byron is not responsible for any division of the winning prize amount to any other party other than the individual named in the original purchase transaction.

Q. What currency is the prize money paid in?

All transactions and winnings are paid in Canadian Dollars. The prize will be paid by cheque payable to the winner.

Q. Do I need to live in Ontario to play?

As per AGCO regulations, raffle ticket orders are not accepted from persons located outside the Province of Ontario. You do not need to live in the Province of Ontario to purchase a 50/50 ticket, but you do need to be physically located within the Province of Ontario at the time of purchase of your online 50/50 raffle ticket to be eligible to play.

Q. How can I pay for my online 50/50 ticket?

The online 50/50 lottery payment through PaySafe accepts debit and most major credits cards, excluding American Express cards.

Q. I cannot access the Optimist Club of Byron lottery website. What should I do?

As per AGCO regulations, you must be located within the Province of Ontario at the time of your purchase. Your device’s location services must be turned on to verify your location prior to entry to the online 50/50 sales platform. Users must also agree to all Terms and Conditions outlined.

Q. I purchased a 50/50 ticket but did not get my numbers. What should I do?

If you purchased your 50/50 ticket but did not receive your numbers, please check your junk or spam folders in the event it was flagged by your email provider. If you still do not have your 50/50 ticket, contact and we will resend your raffle numbers (some verification will be required). If your transaction completed successfully, your numbers will still be part of the draw.

Q. Why does the lottery website require my location and/or why am I receiving the following prompt: Ex "The Optimist Club of Byron lottery would like to use your current location?"

Your current location is required to confirm eligibility. The raffle will be offered throughout the Province of Ontario (the "Raffle Area"). The lottery is void outside the raffle area and where prohibited by law, rule, or regulation.

Q. What if I already selected "Don't Allow"?

Reloading the page should cause you to be prompted to share your location again. If you have specified that you never want to share your location, you will need to go into your settings to allow. See below for instructions.

Q. What if I received the following prompt: "You must allow your browser to share your location to purchase tickets. Please click "OK" to reload this page, then be sure to allow your browser to share your location to share your location when prompted"?


The browser should reload the page and ask you to share location upon loading.
Note: In some browsers, the popup may say "close" instead of "OK".

Q. I entered the incorrect email and did not print my tickets, how can I get my tickets resent?

Please email 
and request that the Event Manager email you your tickets.

Q: What if I cannot purchase tickets on the website due to location issues?

You may have told your browser to never share your location. You need to change that setting to allow the sale.



Q. When I am trying to process a transaction it is not working? What can I do?


Please remember that when you are filling in the personal information at the checkout page the address you input must match the address of the credit card that will be used for the transaction. Please ensure all fields are input correctly.


Q. The site is not loading properly, and I am not able to get to the checkout page, what can I do?


Based on the browser you are on, please go to the settings, then history and clear cookies and cache. Once completed please close the page, reopen and try again.

For iOS devices:
1) Go to the Settings App.
2) Go to Privacy.
3) Go into Location Services.
4) Ensure "Location Services" are on.
5) Scroll down and click "Safari Websites."
6) Make sure that Allow Location Access is set to "While Using the App."

Chrome has the same setting if you are using that instead.

For Android (though this may vary by version):
1) Go to Settings App.
2) Go to Location and make sure that it is on.
3) Go back to previous screen and go to Apps.
4) Go to Chrome.
5) Click Permissions.
6) Ensure that Location is enabled.
